چکیده

Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) has spread worldwide and causes serious problems in the cattle industry owing to lack of effective treatments vaccines. BLV is transmitted via horizontal vertical infection, with high proviral load (PVL), which a useful index for estimating disease progression transmission risk, are considered major infectious sources within herds. PVL strongly correlates highly polymorphic bovine lymphocyte antigen (BoLA)-DRB3 alleles. The BoLA-DRB3*015:01 *012:01 alleles known susceptibility-associated markers related PVL, susceptible may be at risk direct contact healthy cows. In contrast, BoLA-DRB3*009:02 *014:01:01 comprise resistant associated development low low-risk spreaders disrupt chain. However, whether polymorphisms BoLA-DRB3 eradication farms remains unknown. Here, we conducted validation trial integrated strategy prevent new infection by actively eliminate addition conventional strategies maximally reduce prevalence using total 342 4 stall barn Japan from 2017 2019. First, placed milking between BLV-positive -negative 3 years. Interestingly, proved an biological barrier successfully block infections system among all farms. Concomitantly, eliminated especially cattle. Indeed, 39 60 (65%), 76 140 neutral (54%), 20 40 (50%) were culled on Consequently, mean decreased particular, one farm achieved BLV-free status May 2020. By decreasing number animals, revenue-enhancing effect was estimated \5,839,262 over Our results suggest that program utilization as preferential elimination control.

Cattle with the BoLA class II DRB3*0902 allele have significantly lower bovine leukemia proviral loads

The bovine MHC (BoLA) class II DRB3 alleles are associated with polyclonal expansion of lymphocytes caused by bovine leukemia virus (BLV) infection in cattle. To examine whether the DRB3*0902 allele, one of the resistance-associated alleles, is associated with the proviral load, we measured BLV proviral load of BLV-infected cattle and clarified their DRB3 alleles. Fifty-seven animals with DRB3*...

Identification and characterization of major histocompatibility complex class IIB alleles from three species of European ranid frogs

Immune genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) are among the most polymorphic genes in the vertebrate genome. Due to their polymorphic nature, they are often used to assess the adaptive genetic variability of natural populations. This study describes the first molecular characterization of 13 partial MHC class IIB sequences from three European ranid frogs.  The utility of previously...

Serological and genomic detection of bovine leukemia virus in human and cattle samples

Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is a retrovirus responsible for lymphoproliferative disorders in cattle. Although infections of BLV in animals are well known, little is known about its capacity to infect humans. This study investigated the presence of anti-BLV antibodies and BLV proviruses in human and cattle samples. An indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect anti-BL...

Distribution of bovine lymphocyte antigen (BoLA-DRB3) alleles in Brazilian dairy Gir cattle (Bos indicus).

Brazilian dairy Gir (Bos indicus) cattle are a tropical, well-adapted breed, for which no information on the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is presently available. The second exon of the bovine lymphocyte antigen (BoLA-DRB3) was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of DNA samples from 28 Brazilian dairy Gir cows. Two experimental genotyping approaches were used: direct sequencin...
